Writing and a love of the written word has been woven throughout my life.
As a child who felt acutely attuned to the pain of others, even complete strangers, writing was a way to transform the pain around me into something with beauty and meaning.
As a teenager struggling to feel understood in a world that always felt just a little too cold, words were the seeds I could plant to grow my own worlds, exploring creativity and dancing with imagination. As an adult*, I built my career on using the written word to capture the power, beauty, and necessity of the work done by various non-profit organizations, telling the stories of the people they support, and showing the power of philanthropy to help make it all happen. |
I have written articles for various local and school-based newspapers, participated in college events such as the 24 Hour Theatre Project, founded the Novel Writers’ Guild to support and learn from fellow student writers in college, and graduated with a self-designed major in “Creative and Expository Writing” before carving out a career as a grant-writer and manager for the non-profit sector.
I volunteered as blog creator and blogmaster for the Masterworks Chorale while I was a member, and I worked with Books of Hope to mentor a young aspiring writer to grow her poetic and artistic eye.
I periodically take part in writing challenges through NYC Midnight, including the 2021 100 Word Microfiction Challenge, the 2021 Short Screenplay Challenge, and the inaugural 2022 Rhyming Story Challenge.
I bring my art to the fundraising grant requests I write, capturing the beauty and power of the amazing work my colleagues do to support people and their families at end of life and during the grieving process.
Most recently, I have been exploring the art and challenge of creating children's stories to tackle the more difficult aspects of life, death, society, and relationships, with additional projects to be announced.

*Mandatory disclosure: Regardless of how it may appear, I am not actually an "adult." I am a stuffed-animal-loving, cartoon-watching, couch-potatoing, PJ-pants-obsessed giggle-fest who simply keeps aging by accident.
